The one thing I love about my journey is discussing other author’s books that I read. While reading other people’s books inspires me to write the content that I do, I used to participate in a book club where we spoke about books we were reading.
There were opportunities to discuss my books but also authors who write about social issues like I do. Tom Burrell’s ‘Brainwashed’ and Matt Desmond’s ‘Evicted’ were some books I discussed in book club that correlated to some books that I’ve written on social issues in America.
When there are opportunities to discuss social issues, it’s great that I can bring up the books I’ve written but a lot of times I lead with a book I’ve read and then lead into a conversation of the content I’ve written. It’s about engagement for me and building relationships.
I want to not only have discussions about my content but other author’s content too. I think that opens people’s minds to different books that may inspire them to want and make change.
There’s surely a need for all of us to do our part in sharing content, books and articles on social issues going on in our world today. That’s my blog, be good everyone and go accomplish your goals!
