Allocating Your Time to the Right Things

Sometimes when we’re doing so much in our lives, we lose track of what’s important. We may get immersed in a project that can wait a week or two and there’s something else that we can do. Or we put off certain things thinking we can come back to it later. Well, I’m guilty of it and I’m here to tell you, you can adjust and fix that.

When it comes to allocating your time to the right things, it means organizing yourself. It means sitting down, organizing what’s the most important things and then doing that until it’s completed. Right now, my focus is writing content such as these blogs, my books and my podcasts. Those are my top 3 things I’m focused on at the present moment.

When I complete certain tasks, then I move onto something else such as recording audiobooks or designing something for my clothing line. It’s creating the space in your mind and knowing that you’re focusing on a specific project for a certain amount of time.

Sometimes I may get diverted and have to do something else but it’s rare and I’m glad it’s that way. I want you to think about the top 3 things that are most important to you right now. I need you to write those things down in a notebook or put it in your notes or widget. Those three things you wrote down, I need you to go focus on those things for the time being.

Whatever else you may have on your agendas, don’t focus on those things, it will throw you off. Allocate your time to those top 3 things, pick a time in your day when you’re going to focus on those things. An example is Monday-Thursday from 7pm-8pm I record 3 podcasts a night. Friday-Sunday I write my books and I work on blogs when I’m not writing books. Most of my blogs are written months ahead of time so that helps me in a lot of ways.

Once you know what your goals are, you can be more focused on the things you need to mentally hone in on. Choose times where you work best, not when you think you should be working. If you’re a night owl (like me) then do your work at night. If you’re good during the day, then do that. If you’re a combination of both, then that’s even better. Don’t feel obligated to wake up before the sun comes up or work when everyone is sleeping, do things on your own time and what you feel is best.

Our lives are all different, some of us are single, some of us are in relationships, some of us are married. Some of us don’t have kids, some of us have kids. Some of us have full-time jobs with crazy hours, some of us have more traditional work hours. Just know that whatever goals you have, allocate your time to them when it’s necessary. Also know that you’re destined for greatness, never forget that!

That’s my blog for today, be good everyone and go accomplish your goals!
