There’s one thing that I’m guilty of and I used to do a ton. Trying to appease everyone around me in my life. I’ve gotten significantly better at it over the years as I’ve realized, I can’t make the whole world happy.
There are moments in your life when you take time to reflect on where you are and where you want to be and know that you have to start making changes. You learn more about yourself through experiences and reflection and reflection forces you to look at your flaws.
Reflection forces you to look in the mirror at yourself and say, “I need to change.” More of changing for the betterment of yourself, not others. If you’re changing for others, then you’re continuing to live the cycle of appeasing others.
No matter what we do in life, you will find yourself trying to appease your family, significant other, your boss, whoever it is, you’re trying to make and keep them happy. Meanwhile, you’re losing a sense of yourself and your own happiness.
It’s bad enough the world tries to mold you into something you’re not. You’re being told how to act, what to be, what to strive for, what to buy, what to watch, how to spend your money, it’s a constant battle of trying to live your truth while maintaining your sanity.
You’ll lose yourself in this world trying to make everyone happy. Take the job that you want, major in what you want in school, go a route in life that no one else would take, go on the trip you want, be with the person who brings you joy and happiness, be true to yourself.
Think about how many times you sacrificed yourself for the sake of others. How many times have you done it and it benefit you not only in the short term but in the long term? Not many times I’m guessing, am I right?
Find yourself within the confines of quiet, silence, not in the chaotic, confusing parts of life and the world outside. Noise pollution can keep you from being true to who you are.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading my blog, it’s greatly appreciated. Be good, and go accomplish your goals!
