'The Kids Who Achieved Greatness' series is a five book series that was planned a few years ago. The idea came when I was thinking about black culture and how we don't celebrate the most important achievements in life, graduation. It's a huge part of life and with all of the negativity shown regarding young black kids, it's good to show the bright futures of young black adults.
What's so ironic is a lot of times we don't get to hear the stories of these young black adults and what it took for them to get to graduation day. Getting a degree from a college or university is a huge achievement in life. While I've written about the negativity and inner cities of America, I wanted to write uplifting stories of black kids.
There's social issues that we do have to address in the inner cities of America but there's also things that black kids deal with growing up in the suburbs and with parents who have money and are wealthy. I've managed to create a book series of four young black adults (two from the inner city and two from the suburbs) and their worlds collide on a college campus. They become best friends and learn about each other in ways they never thought they would.
They soon learn, no matter the background, we're all in the same fight for respect, dignity and comfort in a world where we aren't liked or are used for what we're great at. This five book series will be a rollercoaster ride of emotions but in the end, black people are on an uphill climb to greatness...
