The Struggles of Not Caring for Attention

Isn’t it ironic that the world has shifted in so many ways and not always for the better? We’ve become attention craving people with social media and keeping up with others. We’ve lost a sense of self and who we truly are due to social media, the media itself and not focusing on ourselves.

But then there’s the people who struggle in life because they don’t care for attention. They’re quiet, in the background, behind the scenes, not looking to draw attention to themselves. They’re the quiet people who just move silently and get things done.

They’re people who appreciate the accolades they accomplish or appreciate the congratulatory messages when they achieve something and then it’s onto what’s next. They don’t entrench themselves on social media posting things for likes, comments and attention all of the time. They appreciate the occasional post that will impact others.

They may be great at something but struggle to find their audience. It’s due to wanting the authentic audience who actually care about what they do and why they do it. It’s not about having thousands to millions of followers on their social media pages. It’s more of they are fine with 5,000 real, authentic followers who care about what they do rather than 100,000 inauthentic followers who barely pay attention to their content.

These are the people who move through the world in an introverted way. They’re not going to draw attention to them when they walk in a room full of people. They go unseen, unheard until it’s their time to shine. They’re not going to aggressively go after things, they do it in a calm, subtle way where it will garner results when the time is right.

In a world full of fake people, bad conversations, inauthentic ways of communicating, these people appreciate the realness from others. They struggle with constant noise pollution going on around them. Headphones drown out the world and make it quieter for them.

When you see people walking around with headphones in their ears all of the time, there’s a reason for it. They want to be left alone, confined to their music and their thoughts. Sometimes the music quiets the mind for just a little while, it’s the brief escape from life and the expectations that come with it.

These are people who struggle to figure out who they are for years at a time. The world is busy telling them how to be, what to be, how to carry themselves, how to “go get it” when it comes to their goals, aspirations and dreams, everyone has an opinion on their personality until they finally figure out who they are and their truth. Their truth comes from within and there’s peace in that.

Being loud, boisterous and having a “hey, look at me” mindset does nothing for them. While life moves fast, they move slower to maintain their peace and sanity. Calmness, comfort and consistency in what they do is more imperative than craziness, chaos and confusion. It applied to their daily life, relationships with family, friends, acquaintances and significant others, their routines, how they build, it all applies.

Their music selection is eclectic, depending on their mood and what’s going on in their day or their life, will determine what they listen to. Playlists get them through their days and when music is playing, they’re at peace. The world slows down for just a little while so they can be and live in the moment.

The struggle of not caring for attention comes from a life of probably not being seen, heard or understood. The beauty of it is, these people you come across or may know, are perfectly okay with it, trust me….

That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
