Life is full of experiences and stories. Without stories, do we have life? Probably not. The thing is, so many of us don’t tell our stories and for many reasons. Fear of being judged, not believed, not accepted, not comfortable speaking about it, you name it, it’s there. So what we do, we try to bury our stories in the back of our minds and not speak on it.
Without people telling their stories, there’s no way of working to make the world a better place. We all have our experiences (good and bad) and when we share the things we’ve been through, it helps others to share their stories. I’ve learned that the more vulnerable I am with my life, my experiences, the more of a chance it allows for someone else to open up, especially men.
It takes a lot for men to open up because of past experiences. They may have opened up to the wrong person or people and they’ve shut down. There’s a lack of empathy within a lot of people in the world too and that keeps us from sharing our truths. That’s something that kept me from sharing certain aspects of my life in all honesty.
I want you to tell your story and give back to those who need it. It could be young children, adolescents, college kids, people in the world, whoever it is. I’m not saying go out and be a motivational speaker or anything like that. Sometimes, simple is better. Writing blogs, doing a podcast with just audio, journaling your life experiences, passing on wisdom to others (family members, coworkers, friends, acquaintances, people you meet).
Don’t lose out on opportunities to showcase who you are and what you can achieve. Even showing how you got to where you are in life makes a huge difference and impact on other people’s lives.
You don’t need a negative experience in life to tell your story either. It doesn’t have to be a social issue that is going on in the world to tell your story. Maybe you went through some hurdles in life with self-esteem or school and the expectations your family had for you. Those are things you surely have to overcome in life.
We all have a story to tell and there’s a need for conversations about life. We can’t sell ourselves short because of negativity that is going on around us. If we can be transparent with our journey, there’s always hope that we can make the world a better place for us and the generations behind us.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading as always, be good and go accomplish your goals!
