Sticking To What I Know

There’s nothing more fulfilling than writing content on what I know. What I know is there are so many societal issues that plague us in today’s world. I’ve spent a lot of time reading content, observing the world and that’s what allows me to develop my stories and create the characters that I do.

What I notice about the writing industry whether it’s books, scripts or screenplays, I see people writing content that they’re not passionate about. They’re doing it to make a quick dollar and those are the stories that lack substance. It’s why I’ll always stick to certain content and not delve into categories and areas where I know I won’t succeed.

Too many times in life, we see what’s trendy and try to follow that because other people are succeeding in it. The only thing is they’re succeeding because they're passionate about their content and love writing that genre. We get caught up in the hype of what others are doing but not sticking to what we know and are good at.

People have asked me if I would write children’s books. I couldn’t give an honest answer because I don’t know if I can. I would have to make my content lighter and write it differently and I’m not totally sure I’d be able to do that. I write hard-hitting, edgy content and to write the same content for children, I would have to water it down and in a filtered world we live in.

My goal is to always stick to what I know. I write my books in a prose format, it’s something I know and will always stick to. I write these blogs to share my thoughts and experiences, it’s what I know and am good at. This is what’s important to me and will continue to be.

Always stick to your guns and don’t change and waiver because of what’s currently trending.

Be good everyone and go accomplish your goals!
