With all of the books I’ve been blessed to write and publish, there are a few of them that have changed me mentally. It’s crazy how books you write can change the landscape of your writing
journey but somehow they do. I never thought about this until recently and I realized I needed to write this blog for sure.
One Drink Too Many was definitely one book that changed my mental focus with writing because I tackled drunk driving from a perpsective of there being consequences for your actions. Have we all been guilty of getting in a car under the influence or been the passenger of someone who’s been drinking at least once in our lives? I would believe yes. It’s why I wrote this book because it’s a topic of discussion that gets talked about but not in book form.
The Man Who Lost His Soul tackles domestic violence but from a man’s perspective. The woman’s side is always the focus but men don’t get as much attention. Men are physically, mentally,
emotionally and spiritually abused daily but it’s pushed under the rug, silenced and men have to stay quiet about it for fear of shame. It made me step out of my shoes and into a man’s who isn’t
strong enough to walk away from the abuse.
I Didn’t Die was a book that wasn’t going to be written but it miraculously happened. Male suicide, depression and mental health is finally being discussed more but statistically men are taking their lives at an alarming rate. After my bout with depression and anxiety in 2020, this book brought out a lot of things I have dealt with and still deal with til this day mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This book I hope can open many eyes to what men feel, go through and experience daily in a world that only sees us as producing machines and not human beings with emotions, feelings and struggles daily.
A Woman’s Worth 3 is one specific book that changed my focus with writing. Young teenage girls don’t have role models they can look up to in today’s world. This book focuses on that aspect and I
crafted a story that focuses on young women having access to lawyers, doctors and professions that impact others.
When you look at today’s society, all you see are athletes, actresses and music artists. There aren’t enough women being shown in careers that make a difference in the world and it’s why I needed to write a book like this.
A Man’s Plight 1 focuses on the portrayals of men in the world. Toxic masculinity and how we are seen in the media have a huge effect on how men see themselves, how we live our lives and the
immense pressure and expectations we are given once we hit adulthood. The start of the book series with this focuses elevated me to a place where writing the rest of the book series was going to
be impactful and powerful.
Living Life to the Fullest was another book where I focused on how important it is to live our lives with perspective and purpose. We all go through struggles in life but the main goal of this
book was to ask, what if you knew the day you were going to die? Would you be as focused and concerned with all of the non-important things weighing you down or slowing up your life?
This was the fastest book I wrote out of all the ones I’ve published but it shed light on how fast time moves, how easily we lose focus on what’s important and how we should always live as if
it’s our last day here. We’re on borrowed time so we need to utilize it the best way we can.
These books were a few of the ones that got me to a place of comfort in my writing, being able to storytell from different perspectives and open the door for others to have conversations on what’s going on in the world.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading as always, be good and go accomplish your goals!
