We all have insecurities, it’s a given. We can be the most confident people in the world but in hindsight, we all have insecurities within ourselves. It’s developed within us from childhood, experiences, whatever it is, we all go through struggles of having confidence in ourselves.
I was a quiet, shy kid for years as a young child. I didn’t talk much unless I was comfortable with family or friends. I had a fear of speaking in front of large crowds of people until I took public speaking classes and was thrust into certain jobs where I was forced to speak in front of people and be confident in myself.
Public speaking and flying on airplanes were phobias of mine until adulthood. If I wanted to advance in my writing career and be the author I am, I had to improve on my speaking skills, being personable and relatable to all walks of life no matter who it is. With flying, I had to get on airplanes and get comfortable doing it and keeping calm during turbulence.
Sometimes our insecurities prevent us from doing a lot of things we want to. Pursuing our passions, doing something we’ve always wanted to, happens to the best of us. Whatever it is that you’re struggling with from a confidence standpoint, just know that you can overcome it.
It may take practicing something or doing something repetitively to get comfortable in doing it. Everything takes time, consistency and discipline, that’s one of the biggest things I’ve learned in life. Building confidence in yourself to grow is a process and a journey. It’s not going to happen overnight, that’s for sure.
If you read my first book and then read book sixty, it’s a total transformation in my growth as a writer. It took time to grow within myself and learn what I’m capable of writing. If you listen to podcast #1 and podcast #370, I’m a totally different podcaster. From the topics and discussion I’ve talked about to how my voice sounds. The same thing when it comes to my blogs that I started years ago.
Confidence comes with learning about yourself, who you are and where you want to be in life. You may think or feel no one is going to take a chance on you with a job you want or a career you want to pursue but all it takes is one person to believe in you. But first, you must believe in yourself before anyone else can invest in you.
It takes investing in yourself first and foremost before anyone else will take a chance on you. It is selling yourself in a way but I don’t like to word it that way. It’s more of being true to yourself and who you are. Let’s stop doubting ourselves and start believing in whatever we put our minds to. You never know where your life journey will take you.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
