Greatness Isn't Easy

The one thing we aren’t told when we are pushing towards greatness, it won’t be easy. There will be a lot of experiences you will go through (good, bad, ugly and indifferent) and you will have to overcome plenty of obstacles in the grand scheme of things.

You won’t always be motivated and inspired to get things done but if you are consistent and disciplined, you will always have the upper hand in all that you do. I tell people a lot of times, I’m not motivated to do the tasks I need to, but I know that when I do them, they will benefit me in the long run.

When it comes to striving for greatness, it’s more of looking at the long-term aspects of things. The short term, you may not see the results right away but down the road, you definitely will see them.

For me, a prime example of this is creating audiobooks for all of my books. Yup, I’m talking 60 books I had to do and it was a three week process. I spent over a month looking through websites, doing subscriptions to end up cancelling them and continuing to look for the right website.

I finally came across a website that had authentic voices, no subscriptions and you pay for the amount of minutes you’ll need. It was a big investment but I know that it will pay off in the years to come. That’s what I mean by looking at the bigger picture when you’re striving for greatness.

It’s perfecting your craft daily, it’s doing all of the little things that people don’t see that get you to where you want to be. You know how athletes are doing all of the work behind the scenes when the cameras are off and when the lights are shining bright in the biggest moments, it’s when they come through for themselves and the team.

That is the prime example of greatness, doing things for the betterment of you and the team, not for the accolades and applause. Yes, there will be long, sleepless nights, being mentally tired, needing to take breaks, wondering what’s next, constant goals you’re trying to achieve but that’s the grind.

Let’s just make sure we have the right balance in our lives (eating and sleeping right, exercising, keeping your mind right and other things). Hustle culture isn’t necessary to get to where you want to be. Remember that.

That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
