The one thing we tend to do is focus on what other people are doing so much. We’re on social media looking at the accomplishments of others instead of doing the work we need to be doing. There’s the feeling of feeling inadequate and uncertain with our life path.
We think people have it easy sometimes when they achieve all of the success they have. Meanwhile, they’ve been through the trenches and we don’t know the whole story of how they got to where they are. It’s why I share a good amount of my journey and what it took to get to where I am currently and I’m still working on things.
Social media are highlights of a person’s life. Moments in time, not the entirety of the story. We forget that people are only showing certain parts of their lives (mostly the good moments) and not all of their struggles they’re dealing with. A lot of people fear being transparent and honest with who they are.
When we focus on what people are doing, we are losing out on doing what we need to do to succeed. Comparison is the thief of joy, it makes us feel less of ourselves when in actuality, we are worthy. We are capable of impacting others and doing what we want in life.
We’ve become watchers of other people’s lives and choose to have our say and add our opinions on what they’re doing. Everyone has become a critic and someone who gives opinion pieces on celebrities and their lives. We forget that the people that make millions of dollars are human just like us. They just have a higher economic status and more problems than we can imagine.
Focusing on others and what they’re doing is basically continuing to walk in a dark tunnel wanting what they have instead of carving our own path and looking for the light in the tunnel of darkness. Sometimes the fun, the lavish life, the money, the fame, the cameras in front of you, you lose a sense of yourself and who you truly are.
Let’s get back to what makes us who we truly are. Not the social media apps that keep us addicted and being advertised to.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
