Being Authentic In A World of Fakeness

What a world we live in. Where we spend time trying to be something that we aren’t. From social media platforms to being around people in general, we’re all painting a facade of who we really are. We fake the funk, we spend time trying to keep up with the Joneses, we lose ourselves in all of it. It’s always refreshing to be around those who are authentic and true to themselves.

Those who are willing to be vulnerable at times and open up to those around them about their life story. It’s crazy what so many people do for attention.the insecurities that we all deal with and face on a daily basis. Things from our childhood that contribute to who we are and where we are in our lives currently.

I was on Hulu and came across this documentary called, “Scamanda” where it focuses on a young woman who scammed people out of their hard earned money because she lied about having a sickness that “supposedly” depleted her body and emotions. It was mind-boggling the story, how she went about it, chronicled it on social media, her website and her church members.

There was a whole concocted story of lies and she was eventually Investigated and arrested on multiple charges of fraud and other things. It was crazy to me what she went through to get thousands of people to be part of her journey and story. She did make national news and surprisingly I missed the story (but then again, I don’t watch the news and I’m not immersed in social media the way others are).

What exactly happened in her life where she needed to go that far to get attention? She was married, had a home in San Jose, California, had children, the life most people look for and seek. There’s so many questions that a series on Hulu can’t put into words.

We look at celebrities and famous people and want their lives. They’re influencers and we fall into wanting money and fame not knowing what the price of it really is. Cars, big homes don't equate to happiness inside. It’s crazy because I wanted the money and fancy car only to learn that most people with money aren’t happy internally.

I learned from Gary Vaynerchuk that people he knew with millions are sad inside. That the money left behind or the money they made from businesses they started didn’t give them fulfillment. They can literally buy whatever cars, homes and vacations they want and they struggle internally.

They’re walking around making it seem like they’re happy when in reality, behind closed doors, they’re so unhappy. It’s crazy how people with the least amount are the happiest. They have an appreciation for life and know what matters the most. Their luxury is the simple things of having fresh air, food, running water, a roof over their head and clothes on their backs.

There are so many people walking around this world painting this image of themselves as if life is the grandest thing. Those who can see through the lies are the ones they’ll avoid at all costs. People who aren’t spiritually in tune with themselves will follow the pack. Those who know what life is truly about, will spot the fakeness and not cater to that energy.

When we all understand that life is about energy transfer whether it’s mentally, spirituality or emotionally, then we will have perspective. What we give our energy to is what we will get back. What we allow into our spaces is what will continue to stay in our lives. The world has already become the devil’s playground if we really look at it from a broader perspective.

We have people who fake it to get a job, a career, a significant other, to get in social circles and plenty of other things but you get my point. People will lie through their lives for the sake of feeling, “in the mix.” They’ll try to keep up with other people’s lifestyles just to feel “included.” There has to be a lot that someone is going through to do all of that.

What I will tell you is to be authentic in who you truly are. Stop for a moment and think to yourself what kind of life do you really want? Whatever that is, work for it and do your best to maintain it. Don’t spend your time watching what others are doing. You don’t know what they had to go through to get to where they are.

As they say, stay in your lane and keep focused on yourself. That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
