Resting Your Body

Living in this day and age, we’re always on the go. We’re constantly putting our bodies through so much, mentally, physically and emotionally. There’s this constant grind and hustle mindset (especially here in the United States) and we forget to take time to rest our bodies.

I’m guilty of this and won’t deny that I’m constantly putting my body through the rigorous grind of working out, pool workouts, bike rides and basketball workouts. There’s also the writing I do which means I’m putting a lot of thought into this part of my journey.

Six days a week, I’m moving my body in some way, shape or form. It’s not always the best for me and sometimes I do need to slow down. Sundays are a day of rest for me, I don’t workout, I don’t go out anywhere and I’m doing self-care mentally and physically.

It’s okay to sit in the tub and soak your body, relax your mind, listen to music, process your thoughts, prepare for the week ahead, plan out things you need to do, goals you have for yourself, whatever it is, do it. We only get one body and we surely need to take care of it daily.

Eating the right food (cheating is good sometimes, don’t make it a habit), getting fluids and sleeping enough so your body can make it through the day. Sleeping is something I’m guilty of not getting enough of. Part of it is my current life, things on my mind subconsciously and a few other things that I don’t need to fully delve into. But when you know the root cause of why your body is tired, you know how to resolve that issue.

Rest your body, spend time with yourself and those closest to you. That email can wait, that TV show can be watched later, whatever it is that you think you should be doing, just pause life for a bit and take a break from it all. Do it one day a week, it’ll benefit your mental and physical health in the long run.

That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
