When I started writing books in 2015, I never thought I’d write more than five books. I’ll admit I started planning my move to a beach area in California. After I published my first book, “The
Struggles and Growth of a Man,” I was looking at homes off the beach because I thought I was going to make it big and be rich. Then reality set in, my book cover was bad, the book size was too
big and I had done no significant book marketing and promotion.
It’s funny how you think you know it all and in actuality, you really don’t. I’m still learning, growing and figuring out a lot of things along the way when it comes to content creation. It doesn’t get easier, it becomes more challenging. Especially when there are websites that can create an eBook for you in a matter of minutes based off of an idea you put in. Gotta love artificial intelligence and how much it takes away from what we were given when we were born...a brain.
It’s crazy what’s happened in the writing and book industry with artificial intelligence but nothing will beat a story that has purpose and substance. It’s the human element and feeling tied to a specific author that has written a book that you like. It’s why I’ve written books on social issues, it’s subject matter that affects us all.
The journey to 60 books was a rollercoaster ride and a lot happened from when I started to where I am now. I’ve moved a few times (the big move was across the country at the end of 2020), family stuff, depression, anxiety, job changes, website building and so many other things. There was so much that went into getting to my end goal.
What I will say is, it’s been fulfilling in so many ways. When you fall in love with something you’re passionate about, you learn very quickly how important it is to keep going, be consistent and be disciplined.
You get better at your craft by continuing to do the necessary work no matter what your passion is. Continue to learn, grow and prosper. My journey to 60 books was well worth it so whatever you’re great at, it will be worth it in the end.
That’s my blog for today, thanks for reading, be good and go accomplish your goals!
